Teaching Philosophy
I believe people matter most in this world, and that belief is the foundation of my teaching. Learning happens through relationships, and students take on challenges when they feel seen, respected, and supported. I try to integrate interactive activities into every lesson, along with reality-based scenarios that let students practice the kinds of interactions they will face outside the classroom, so that what they learn is something they can use. I also believe grammar is an essential part of learning a language: you do not have to be perfect, but to be understood well, you need the basics. At the same time, I encourage students to keep learning beyond the classroom, because watching movies, playing video games, and talking with friends in the language all contribute to their improvement. In any classroom, my aim is for students to leave more capable, and more confident that they belong.
